‘Lincoln’ preems at Arclight

Helmer talks of casting and characters

Even with two dozen producing credits, Tom Rosenberg said he was feeling strongly sentimental at Thursday’s preem of Lionsgate’s “The Lincoln Lawyer” at the Arclight.

“I remember seeing the galleys on this one and thinking that this would be a good film for Matthew McConaughey,” the Lakeshore chief mused at the Eden afterparty.

Rosenberg and partner Gary Lucchesi gave thanks. “Studios don’t want to make this kind of adult thriller anymore so we’re extremely glad that Lionsgate stepped up,” Lucchesi added.

Michael Connelly, who created the Mickey Haller character, said the process had been somewhat nerve-wracking in the early stages. “But once I saw Matthew do the super-confident agent in ‘Tropic Thunder,’ I knew he could nail this one,” he added. Connelly is already laying groundwork for another McConaughey pic. He brings back Mickey Haller in his upcoming “The Fifth Witness.”
