LISBON — Serbian helmer Emir Kusturica will be jury prexy at the 11th Marrakech Film Festival, following in the footsteps of Roman Polanski, Milos Forman, Barry Levinson and John Malkovich.
Fest’s competitive Official Selection — dedicated to debut and sophomore features — awards four prizes: Gold Star, jury prize and best actor and actress.
Kusturica, who received a career tribute at Marrakech in 2009, will also give a masterclass.
Sigourney Weaver will preside over the Cinecoles short film competition, showcasing upcoming talent from Morocco.
Marrakech will also organize a tribute to Mexican cinema.
Fest runs Dec. 2-10.
