'Legends of Awesomeness' presells to several territories

Viacom Intl. Media Networks’ “Kung Fu Panda” spinoff has gone global ahead of its launch at Mipcom.

“Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness,” the latest CG animated skein from Nickelodeon’s long-time partnership with DreamWorks Animation, adapted from the studio’s 2008 blockbuster, presold to Belgium (Viewcom), Bolivia (ATB), Brazil (TV Globo), Ecuador (Teleamazonas), Malaysia (NTV7), Nicaragua (Telenica), Singapore (MediaCorp okto), Spain (TVE), Sweden (TV4) and Thailand (BBTV7).

Viacom’s slate also includes the return of Mike Judge’s “Beavis and Butt-Head” after a 14-year absence from the smallscreen, and Nickelodeon’s action-packed “T.U.F.F Puppy,” the 2010 hit animation show about dim-witted doggy secret agent Dudley Puppy.

“Animation has always been the bedrock of our catalog and it’s especially strong for us this year with a significant increase in the number of hours for sale,” said Caroline Beaton, VIMN’s senior VP of program sales. “As a genre, animation is at the top of our clients’ wish-lists.”
