ROME — “Kung Fu Panda 2” will open Italy’s Taormina Film Festival in June with voice star Jack Black and DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg expected in tow.
The 3D sequel will screen June 11 on a giant outdoor screen in the Sicilian resort’s ancient Greek theater, which seats more than 3,000.
“Panda 2” opens Stateside via Paramount on May 26 and rolls out in major European territories in June. Taormina will not be the pic’s international bow. The 57th edition of the fest, headed by Deborah Young, will run June 11-18. — Nick Vivarelli
