Eleven-year-old joins "Real Steel" partner Hugh Jackman for fantasy pic
Up-and-coming kid thesp Dakota Goyo has reteamed with his “Real Steel” partner Hugh Jackman to voice a character in DreamWorks Animation’s 3D fantasy “Rise of the Guardians.”
The 11-year-old joins the cast first reported by Variety of Jackman, Chris Pine, Jude Law, Alec Baldwin and Isla Fisher.
Peter Ramsey will direct the pic, slated for 2012. Film is based on a book by William Joyce, who will co-direct from a script penned by David Lindsay-Abaire.
Guillermo del Toro and Michael Siegel are exec producing, while Christina Steinberg and Nancy Bernstein will serve as producers.
Film centers around childhood mythical characters (Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, etc.), each with extraordinary abilities, who must join forces to protect children from an evil spirit akin to the boogeyman.
Up next, Goyo will appear in Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor” as the young god of thunder for Paramount. Goyo also appeared in “Resurrecting the Champ” along with Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Hartnett.
