Robert Kessel has joined Matt Tolmach Prods. as senior VP of productions, where he’ll oversee development and production for the company’s feature slate.
Kessel will work closely with Tolmach, who left his prexy post at Columbia Pictures last year to start his production banner at Sony.
“He is well respected for his great taste, extensive skills and relationship with filmmakers,” Tolmach said in a statement.
Kessel was exec VP of production and acquisitions for Overture Films. While at Overture, he guided such projects as “Let Me In,” “The Visitor” and “Sunshine Cleaning
.” Kessel also served as partner and production head for seven years at Hart Sharp Entertainment, and before that, VP of acquisitions at Miramax.
Upcoming projects for Matt Tolmach Prods. include acquiring material to develop such as “Frankenstein,” “The Slackfi Project” and “Kitchen Sink.”
Tolmach is serving as producer
on Sony’s “The Amazing Spider-Man.”
