Karlovy Vary sets two tributes

Fest will fete Denis Villeneuve, Samuel Fuller

The 46th Karlovy Vary Film Festival has announced tributes to Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve and helmer Samuel Fuller plus a spotlight on young Greek directors.

Villeneuve will attend to present a complete retrospective of his films, including Oscar-nommed “Incendies.”

The fest will present 10 films by Fuller, who influenced a generation of filmmakers including Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino with intense, controversial films such as “White Dog.”

Eight features will unspool in the Greek sidebar, including Oscar-nommed “Dogtooth.”

Running July 1-9, it’s the first year artistic director Karel Och will oversee the selection at the Czech Republic fest.
