Relativity schedules family film against 'Super 8'

Relativity Media will release Smokewood Entertainment’s family film “Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer” on June 10.

The release date pits the lighthearted picture against a decidedly darker family film: J.J. Abrams’ “Super 8.”

John Schultz (“Aliens in the Attic”) directs from a script by Kathy Waugh and author Megan McDonald, whose nine-book series has sold more than 13 million copies in 23 languages.

Jordana Beatty (“Superman Returns”) stars as the titular third-grader, and Heather Graham plays her aunt.

Smokewood’s Sarah Siegel-Magness and Gary Magness produced the movie, while Bobbi Sue Luther and Andrew Sugerman exec produced.

Relativity has “Take Me Home Tonight” and “Limitless” set for release in March.
