Joseph Gordon-Levitt gets ‘Unchained’

Thesp in talks for helmer's spaghetti Western

Nearly a month after dining with director Quentin Tarantino, “50/50” star Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to join the cast of the helmer’s spaghetti Western “Django Unchained.”

Insiders tell Variety that Gordon-Levitt intends to do the movie, though he’ll have to sort out several scheduling issues that could prevent him from participating.

Tarantino plans to start shooting “Django” in New Orleans in January. Should Gordon-Levitt close a deal for “Django,” he’d join his “Inception” co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Kurt Russell and Don Johnson in The Weinstein Company pic, which is skedded for release on Christmas Day 2012.

Tarantino would be the latest A-list helmer to work with Gordon-Levitt, who co-stars in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” and Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln.” Thesp chooses his collaborators carefully, as he’s also recently worked with up-and-coming helmers such as Jonathan Levine (“50/50”), Rian Johnson (“Looper”) and Spencer Susser (“Hesher”).

CAA-repped Gordon-Levitt next stars in David Koepp’s bike messenger thriller “Premium Rush,” which Sony recently pushed from Jan. 13. to Aug. 24. with the hope of luring summer auds.
