Jason Clarke has joined the cast of the Prohibition-era pic “The Wettest County in the World.”
Pic stars Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy, with John Hillcoat aboard to helm.
Mia Wasikowska is circling, but is holding off negotiations to try and reconcile a scheduling conflict with another film, as first reported by Daily Variety (Jan. 20).
Based on the tome by Matt Bondurant, “Wettest County” focuses on a family of bootleggers in the American south.
Nick Cave is adapting the script, with Megan Ellison, Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick producing through Fisher and Wick’s Red Wagon Entertainment shingle.
Clarke is set to star in the Fox skein “The Chicago Code” which preems on Feb. 7; he was also recently seen in “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.”
He is repped by UTA and Robert Stein Management.
