Jamie Foxx is lending his clout to Roadside Attractions’ music docu “Thunder Soul” by presenting the film and serving as exec producer.
“Thunder Soul,” which unspooled at last year’s South by Southwest Film Fest, is skedded for a September release.
Docu follows alumni from Houston’s Kashmere High School Stage Band who return home after 35 years to play a tribute concert for former 92-year-old band lead Conrad “Prof” Johnson. Director Mark Landsman
produced, along with Snoot Entertainment’s Keith Calder and Jessica Wu.
Foxx will serve a role similar as Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry for “Precious.”
Roadside acquired the docu in November following its screening at the Toronto Film Fest.
