ITV Studios inks ‘Best House’ deals

Commissions include Canada's Shaw, France2

ITV Studios Global Entertainment has concluded new commissions for reality format “May the Best House Win” in Europe and Canada.

Shaw Television in Canada has ordered a 13-episode series to be made by local factual specialist Proper Television. “May the Best House Win” will bow on HGTV Canada in late 2012. In Europe, Belgium’s VTM has signed up for two four-episode series, produced by Endemol for transmission this fall.

ITV Studios France, based in Paris, has completed production on a pilot of “May the Best House Win” for pubcaster channel France2.

In the show, four very different homeowners take turns to host a tour of their homes, with third parties giving their opinions on the house.

Paul Buccieri, managing director of ITV Studios Intl., said, “We have a strong history of launching daytime formats in the U.K. and rolling them out internationally. Shows like ‘Come Dine With Me’ and ‘Four Weddings’ have not only been produced around the world, in many instances they have graduated from daytime to primetime and become returning hits for local broadcasters.

“‘May the Best House Win’ is equally versatile and we hope this fantastic show will become another high volume staple for our broadcast clients.” A local version of the show has been produced in Spain by ITV Studios Spain for Antena 3.
