It’s a long way from “Cedar Rapids” to downtown Manhattan, but that’s where the stars of Fox Searchlight’s comedy gathered Thursday for the Cinema Society screening. Ed Helms, Sigourney Weaver, Anne Heche and Isiah Whitlock Jr. (the corrupt mayor from HBO’s “The Wire,” an inside joke in the film) introduced the pic at Chelsea’s SVA Theater, where a scarf-and-capped Jon Hamm endured constant ogling outside in the cold while waiting for a guest.
Weaver didn’t make the Millesime afterparty, but Taraji P. Henson, John Cameron Mitchell, Jill Hennessy, Tom McCarthy and Fox Searchlight’s Nancy Utley were among those drinking and dining inside.
Helms, who also exec produced, detailed the origin of his singing talent, showcased in the pic. “I was in a couple musicals in high school and one in college,” he revealed. But the thesp was less forthcoming talking about Mel Gibson’s departure from “The Hangover 2.”
“Pass!” he replied with a smile.
