Thora Birch, Christine Lahti, Michael Urie, Brittany Snow, David Rasche and newcomer Tobias Segal have signed to star in indie dark comedy “Petunia,” with shooting starting this week in New York City.
Ash Christian will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Theresa Bennett.
“Petunia” is produced by Jordan Yale Levine (“The Land of the Astronauts”), Birch and Christian.
Script centers on an offbeat family of New Yorkers coming to terms with their own misgivings about life and love, weaving together stories of three brothers — one who’s developed a sex addiction.
Christian’s feature film debut “Fat Girls” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and won the emerging talent award at L.A.’s Outfest Film Festival. He is in post-production on his comedy “Mangus!,” starring Jennifer Coolidge, Heather Matarazzo, Leslie Jordan, Deborah Theaker and John Waters, and is appearing in “The Good Wife” on CBS.
