HSI Films has ‘Answers,’ ‘Carnaval’

Company to rep foreign rights for pics at AFM

HSI Films has signed deals to rep foreign rights on “Answers to Nothing” and “Carnaval” at the upcoming American Film Market.

“Nothing,” starring Dane Cook and Elizabeth Mitchell, is a drama of interweaving stories set in Los Angeles against the backdrop of a child kidnapping case. Julie Benz, Barbara Hershey and Zach Gilford also star with Matthew Leutwyler directing.

Roadside Attractions is handling domestic on “Answers” and will be releasing the film on Dec. 2.

“Carnaval,” starring John Cusack and Johnny Knoxville, will shoot in Brazil in January. Cusack will play a sports scout who is sent to Rio de Janeiro during Carnaval to recruit the world’s best soccer player while Knoxville plays his best friend, who has an affair with a woman who turns out to be the player’s girlfriend.

Stone Village is producing and financing “Carnaval.” Former agent David Styne wrote the initial script.
