Intl. Rescue Committee donation to aid immediate response orgs

The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. has donated $250,000 to the Intl. Rescue Committee to aid relief efforts in Japan.

The HFPA coin will specifically be directed to bolster the capacity of immediate response orgs.

“What has happened to Japan is unimaginable,” said HFPA prexy Philip Berk. “We hope that our contribution will help all those affected and our hearts go out to them during this difficult time.”

The HFPA has made major donations to the New York-based IRC in the past, including a contribution in 2006 to efforts to aid the victims of strife in Darfur project that was coordinated with George Clooney.
