Teddy Leifer will exec produce
PARK CITY — HBO is nearing a deal for remake rights for Ian Palmer-helmed docu “Knuckle,” which will see pic’s production house Rise Films pair with Rough House Pictures partners Jody Hill, Danny McBride and David Gordon Green attached.Adaptation will see the docu, which chronicles the 12-year journey into the world of an Irish gypsy community and their bare-knuckle fighting rituals, be remade into a TV drama series for the channel. Docu’s producer Teddy Leifer, who also produced Sundance 2009 Grand Jury Prize winner “Rough Aunties,’ will exec produce through shingle Rise Films. Remake rights for the docu have been on the cards here in Park City since the fest began on Thursday with many industryites vying for the rights up to two weeks before the fest. Pic, which preemed on Friday and screens in the fest’s world cinema docu competish, is still in negotiations for a domestic distrib, which is likely to complete over the next few days. ContentFilm International came on board on Saturday to handle international rights for the docu, excluding U.K.
