Singapore-based HBO Asia has teamed up with Infinite Studios to make its first Asian feature, “Dead Mine,” an English-language action-horror pic, in Indonesia.
Pic will shoot in the island-city of Batam’s Infinite Studios and will mix international and regional thesps, creative and technical talent, HBO Asia said in a statement. HBO Asia is HBO and Paramount’s Asian joint venture.
“Dead Mine” will be released theatrically across the region followed by a TV bow on HBO Asia in 2012.
“HBO Asia is very excited to be working with Infinite Studios on our very first original feature film co-production. This is truly a landmark announcement and is another important milestone for HBO Asia,” HBO Asia CEO Jonathan Spink said.
Mike Wiluan, CEO of Infinite Studios said the pic would help its plans to expand in Asia.
“I’m delighted at the prospect of working with HBO Asia on their first venture in original content production,” he said.
