Summit Entertainment pic to be helmed by Scott Speer

Ryan Guzman and Kathryn McCormick have been set to star in Summit Entertainment’s fourth installment of “Step Up.”

The pic, directed by Scott Speer, will be shot in 3D and is slated to start principal photography later this summer. Story is set in Miami.

Script is being penned by Jenny Mayer. Producers are Jennifer Gibgot and Adam Shankman via their Offspring Entertainment banner as well as Summit’s Patrick Wachsberger and Erik Feig. Jon M. Chu, who directed the second and third installments of “Step Up,” is an exec producer as well as Offspring’s Matt Smith. Summit will distribute the film domestically and license the pic internationally.

The film marks Guzman’s acting debut following a career as a model. McCormick was discovered on “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Erik Feig, Meredith Milton and Jeyun Choi will oversee the project for the studio.

Guzman is represented by Luber Roklin Entertainment. McCormick is represented by Go 2 Talent Agency.
