Gervais to voice ‘Spy Kids’ robot

Comedian joins the cast of Dimension sequel

Comedian Ricky Gervais will voice robot spy dog Argonaut in Dimension Films’ “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World.”

Gervais joins a cast including Jessica Alba, Jeremy Piven, Joel McHale and young stars Rowan Blanchard and Mason Cook.

Antonio Banderas, Danny Trejo, Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara will reprise their roles from the previous “Spy Kids” films, which collectively have grossed more than $450 million worldwide.

“Not only am I lending my voice to ‘Spy Kids,’ but they can keep it. I’m sick of it,” Gervais joked in a statement.

Story centers on a retired secret agent who must save the world from an evil timekeeper. Robert Rodriguez directs the pic, slated for an Aug. 19 release in 3D.
