‘Fubar’ for Screen Media

Michael Dowse film to premiere at SXSW

Leading up to the South by Southwest Film Festival, Screen Media Films has nabbed North American rights to Michael Dowse’s “Fubar: Balls to the Wall.” Pic will have its U.S. preem at SXSW.

Deal was brokered by Robert Baruc and Suzanne Blech, from Screen Media, and UTA’s Bec Smith on behalf of the filmmakers.

“Fubar,” which follows the lives of two eccentric headbangers, screened at last year’s Toronto Film Festival. Pic stars Paul J. Spence and David Lawrence, who co-wrote the film with Dowse. The trio share producing credits, along with George Baptist, Shirley Vercruysse and Jennifer Wilson.

Screen Media plans to release the film on video-on-demand and homevid on April 19.
