Fox wins bid for ‘Peculiar Children’ book

Novel concerning orphanage for kids with strange powers comes out June 7

After a heated bidding war, Fox has purchased rights to “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs.

Studio confirmed it closed the deal last night.

Peter Kang will oversee the project with Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping producing.

While Riggs’ novel doesn’t come out until June 7, the tome had already generated buzz among industry reps. Story centers around 16-year-old Jacob, who stumbled upon a home for children with strange powers on a remote island off the coast of Wales.

As a result of the bidding war, publisher Quirk Books has inked a deal with Riggs to write a sequel.

APA and Heroes and Villains Entertainment rep Riggs, while CAA reps Quirk Books.
