Fox bets on Schweighoefer

Distrib boards 'Schlussmacher'

Following the huge success of Matthias Schweighoefer’s directorial debut “What a Man,” Fox is again partnering with the actor-helmer on “Schlussmacher.”

Produced by Pantaleon Films, run by Schweighoefer and partners Marco Beckmann and Dan Maag, “Schlussmacher” follows an employee of a professional agency that helps couples break up.

The production has so far secured €700,000 ($918,000) in subsidy coin from the German Federal Film Board and the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

“What a Man,” co-produced by Pantaleon and Fox, which also released the film, earned $16.5 million at the box office.

Schweighoefer is currently in Universal’s “Rubbeldiekatz,” Detlev Buck’s laffer about an unsuccessful actor who disguises himself as a woman to land a role in a Hollywood Nazi pic shooting in Berlin. He next appears in Paramount’s local comedy “Russendisko,” by Oliver Ziegenbalg.
