Duo win for best producers at French Academy of Arts and Sciences
Paris — Les Films du Poisson’s duo Yael Fogiel and Laetitia Gonzalez won the Daniel Toscan du Plantier kudo for best producers at a ceremony held by the French Academy of Arts and Sciences in Paris on Monday.Fogiel and Gonzalez produced Mathieu Amalric’s “On Tour” and Julie Bertucelli’s'”The Tree, which both played at Cannes. “On Tour,” which won best helmer at Cannes for Amalric, also earned seven Cesar noms, including screenplay, film and helmer. Bertucelli’s pic was nominated for three Cesar noms: Adapted screenplay, actress for Charlotte Gainsbourg and music. Les Films du Poisson is wrapping Olga Kurylenko-starrer “The Land of Oblivion,” a drama on the Chernobyl tragedy directed by Michale Boganim (“Odessa Odessa”). Created in 1995 by Fogiel and Gonzalez, shingle has produced various award-winning first films, including Julie Bertuccelli’s “Since Otar Left” (“Depuis qu’Otar est Parti”) and Emmanuel Finkiel’s Voyages, which both nabbed the Cesar award for best first films. The ceremony drew a flurry of French industryites and heavyweigths, including Cannes film fest director Thierry Fremaux, Canal Plus’ topper Rodolphe Belmer, France’s culture minister Frederic Mitterrand, helmers Bertrand Tavernier, Mathieu Amalric and Roman Polanski as well as thesps Melanie Thierry and Julie Gayet.
