FilmNation Entertainment has come on to handle international sales on John Hillcoat’s “Wettest County,” the gangster drama starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain.
FilmNation will be handling foreign sales beginning at the European Film Market in Berlin, with additional cast to be announced shortly. It oversaw international distribution on Hillcoat’s “The Road.”
“Wettest County” is currently in pre-production in Georgia with filming set to start Feb. 28. The film, based on the novel by Matt Bondurant and adapted by Nick Cave, centers on brother bootleggers who take the law into their own hands.
Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick are producing alongside Michael Benaroya under his Benaroya Pictures banner and Megan Ellison.
FilmNation is also handling international sales on “Gambit,” “The King’s Speech,” “Hungry Rabbit Jumps,” Pedro Almodóvar’s “La Piel Que Habito (The Skin I Live In),” “Looper,” “Sanctum,” Terrence Malick’s untitled love story, “Under the Skin,” “Ceremony,” “The Oranges,” “House at the End of the Street,” “The Raven,” “F*cking Engaged” and “Message From the King.”
