The Weinstein Co.’s “My Week With Marilyn” preemed at Alice Tully Hall on Sunday, having bypassed a few other prestigious fests. Its New York Film Festival berth had something to do with Michelle Williams’ sked.
“Frankly we wanted to shoot a musical number with Michelle, but she was committed to ‘Oz, the Great and Powerful,’ ” Harvey Weinstein said at Hudson Hotel’s Private Park afterparty. “We couldn’t get her off work until late August, which would have meant showing the film as a work-in-progress without the big number in the beginning.”
Two nights earlier at the fest, Steve McQueen was feeling anxious at Fox Searchlight’s screening of “Shame.”
“I’m always nervous at festivals. Always,” the helmer said at Top of the Standard. “I think if you don’t get nervous at festivals then your time is up.”
