Fantastic Films and MPI Media Group along with the Irish Film Board have come onboard horror comedy “Stitches,” directed by Conor McMahon.

Deal was announced Tuesday at the American Film Market.

McMahon is the writer-director of “Disturbed,” “Dead Meat” and the TV series “Zombie Bashers.”

Principal photography will begin late this year in Ireland. The cast includes Ross Noble and Tommy Knight of “Doctor Who” and “The Sarah Jane Adventures.”

The film is being produced with some financing from the Irish Film Board.

Story centers on Richard “Stitches” Grindle, a jaded kids’ birthday clown. He falls victim to a fatal party mishap at the hands of a group of nasty children. Years later, the group of now teenagers attend a party at which Stitches is the uninvited guest of honor, returning to avenge his untimely death.

MPI Media Group’s recent productions include “The Innkeepers,” “Stake Land,” “Hatchet 2″ and “The House of the Devil.”
