Exploring innner ‘Sanctum’

Cameron produced-pic preems

Even as an exec producer, James Cameron was king of the world at Universal/Relativity’s “Sanctum” premiere at the Mann Six in Hollywood on Monday.

A wall of people surrounded him at the Rise Nightclub after-party, where he praised the pic’s underwater scenes, filmed in 3D. It made him nostalgic for one of his old movies.

” ‘The Abyss’ would have rocked the shit in 3D, but we just didn’t have the technology,” he said.

“Sanctum” star Rhys Wakefield said it was quite the learning experience with Cameron on set: “I can remember one day as he sat in the chair with his executive producer hat on, saying how relaxing it was to just sit back and watch someone else man the ship.”

Cameron left those duties to helmer Alister Grierson.
