Evolution Entertainment owners Mark Burg and Oren Koules, best known for producing the “Saw” franchise, are splitting up.
Burg announced Thursday that he’d purchased Kholues’ 50% share of the production and management company and that Michael J. Menchel has been named president of the company.
“It’s been a great 12 years, but my interests lie outside the responsibilities of the management business,” Khoules said. “I will continue my day-to-day focus on all ‘Saw’ related projects, I wish Mark the very best with Evolution.”
Menchel spent 23 years at CAA before becoming a manager at the inception of AMG. HIs producing credits include “One Chance,” “Escape” and “Cotton”.
“Evolution is poised for a huge leap forward,” Menchel said. “I look forward to building on the assets already in place and guide it to the next level. I’m proud to take the wheel.”
Burg and Koules said they will continue to produce TV and film projects together related to the “Saw” franchise. All seven “Saw” pics were distributed by Lionsgate.
