Eurozoom has picked up all French distribution rights to Argentine hit “Chinese Take-Away,” starring Ricardo Darin (“The Secret in Their Eyes”) for a theatrical release by November.
Spanish sales company Latido Films has also inked “Take-Away” rights with Rialto for Australia and expects to close a distribution deal for North America soon.
The cross-cultural buddy comedy from Argentine writer-director Sebastian Borensztein stars Huang Sheng Huang.
“Take-Away” has already sold to other key territories, including Italy (Archibald Enterprise Film) and Germany (Ascot Elite).
Released March 24 in Argentina by Disney, “Take-Away” led the local box office for two weeks, cuming $4.4 million to become the top-earning local film of the year.
Handled in Spain by Alta Films, pic has nabbed a standout $2.7 million B.O. after seven weeks in local theaters.
The Argentina-Spain co-production, budgeted at $1.2 million, teams Madrid’s Tornasol Films, Pablo Bossi’s Buenos Aires-based Pampa Prods. and Argentine broadcaster Telefe.
