EuropaCorp inks sales on ‘Transporter’

Action series sells to Oz, Russia, Spain, Japan, Korea

Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp has closed a flurry of pre-sales on “Transporter,” the English-language series based on Besson’s action film franchise.

Unveiled at Mipcom, deals were inked with Fox Australia, Russia’s Central Partnership, Spain’s Antena 3, Japan’s Kadokawa, Poland’s Canal Plus Pologne and Korea’s CJ Media.

The 12-episode one-hour series, which toplines Chris Vance (“Prison Break”), is produced by Klaus Zimmermann at Gaul’s Atlantique Prods. and Susan Murdoch at Canadian outfit QVF. EuropaCorp is co-producing and handling international sales.

“Transporter” was commissioned by French commercial net M6, and was pre-bought by RTL in Germany, HBO/Cinemax in the U.S. and Entertainment Movie Central and Astral in Canada. The skein recently wrapped in Toronto and France. With an approximate budget of $4 million per epsiode, “Transporter” is one of Gaul’s most expensive TV drama series ever.

The three “Transporter” movies, toplining Jason Statham, grossed $238 million worldwide.
