Thesps to star as Hook and Wendy for 'Pan'

Aaron Eckhart and AnnaSophia Robb have signed on to star as Hook and Wendy in Swiss-French director Ben Hibon’s fantasy thriller “Pan.”

Sentient’s Renee Tab and Social Capital’s Christopher Tuffin and Martin Shore are producing alongside Energy Entertainment’s Brooklyn Weaver. The film begins lensing throughout Eastern Europe in October.

The film is being co-produced and co-financed by UK based Molinare and Santa Monica based Social Capital Films. Molinare’s Andrew Boswell will serve as a co-producer.

International sales and finance are being handled at Cannes by Essential Entertainment, which is also repping Eckhart’s “The Expatriate.”

“Pan” puts a scary spin on the classic children’s tale. Captain Hook is a former police detective in pursuit of a childlike kidnapper, and Wendy is the villain’s lone survivor who must leave the safety of an asylum to help Hook track down her former captor. Sean Bean has been cast as Smee, the chief detective and Hook’s only ally on the force.

The film is based on a screenplay by Ben Magid.

The Peter Pan character — a boy who can fly and refuses to grow up — was created by novelist J.M. Barrie in 1902.

Eckhart most recently toplined “Battle: Los Angeles” while Robb starred in “Soul Surfer.”
