LONDON — The Dubai Film Festival has teamed up with Mip TV to screen the winners of the fest’s Muhr Awards at the television mart in April.The partnership aims to improve the visibility of up-and-coming filmmaking talent from the Middle East among the international biz community. Deal was announced in Dubai during the fest’s eighth edition on Tuesday. Ted Baracos, director of market development for Mip TV, said that the deal would “provide the winning filmmakers with a perfect opportunity to access the largest gathering of buyers globally, as well as benefit from networking sessions with international distributors and other industry professionals who attend Mip TV and the Mip Doc screenings.” “The partnership will further add to (the festival’s) proven commitment to support filmmakers from the inception of their project to trade and distribution; in short, the entire production and post-production cycle,” added fest managing director Shivani Pandya. Mip TV, which is skedded to run April 1-4, will bring together more than 11,000 media and television industry professionals from 100 countries. The winners of the Muhr awards will be announced Dec. 14, when the fest wraps.
