Wider range submissions hoped for

LISBON — The Dubai Film Festival has extended its project submission deadline for the Dubai Film Connection, considered to be the Middle East’s most successful co-production market.

More than 100 projects were submitted by the Aug. 1 deadline, which the fest has pushed to Aug. 22 to attract a wider range of filmmakers.

Candidates may now submit scripts in Arabic and French, as well as English.

Launched in 2007, the Dubai Film Connection selects 15 regional documentary and feature projects per year and offers training sessions for participants with sales, distribution and funding experts. It also offers over $100,000 in funding and five registrations for Arab producers to the Producers Network at Cannes 2012. Fest’s eighth edition runs Dec. 7-14.
