Docu looks at Iran's 2010 Green Revolution
LONDON — Brit niche distrib Dogwoof has snapped up U.K. rights for Ali Samadi Ahadi’s “The Green Wave.”
Pic, which will have its U.K. preem at the Edinburgh Film Festival on June 23, follows the account of Iran’s 2010 Green Revolution, and uses illustration and collage to tell the stories of demonstrators who fought for reform under the conservative President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Filmmakers incorporated an array of social media outlets — cell phones, Twitter, Facebook and blogs — to illustrate how the uprisings are being fought and mobilized in a new wave of revolution.
Pic is produced by Dreamer Joint Venture and is being sold by Visit Films.
Dogwoof, which prides itself on acquiring and distributing pics and docus with social messages, is planning a 2011 release for the pic.
“Green Wave” also screened at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
