Studio taps Universal vet to head creative advertising

Disney has hired Universal marketing exec Frank Chiocchi to head its creative advertising operations.

The Mouse House provided no official confirmation of the hire Thursday. He’ll report directly to president of marketing MT Carney, who was selected by studio chief Rich Ross in April.

Under Ross’s watch over the past year and a half, Disney’s been devoting most of its development and production dollars to making only a few movies per year — with the aim of capitalizing on the appeal of the Disney brand with moviegoers.
