Mercer, Brownstein star in McCormick pic

Palisades Tartan has acquired distribution for “Some Days Are Better than Others,” Matt McCormick’s debut feature with musicians James Mercer from the Shins and Carrie Brownstein of Wild Flag.

Agreement includes distribution in North America, the U.K. and associated territories.

“Some Days” was recently selected to play New Directors/New Films, the film series organized by the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Museum of Modern Art. It will open theatrically in the United States on March 25th at the Hollywood Theater in Portland, before opening wider across the country.

Brownstein also stars in IFC’s “Portlandia,” the series created, written by and starring Brownstein and Fred Armisen.

“Some Days” asks why the good times slip by so fast while the difficult times seem so sticky. McCormick has had three short films screen at Sundance and is the founder and former director of the PDX Film Festival in Portland. He’s the founder of video distributor Peripheral Produce.
