Cillian Murphy circles ‘Strangers’

Period suspenser lenses in August

Irish thesp Cillian Murphy (“Tron”) is in advanced negotiations to topline “Wayfaring Strangers,” a WWII English-language psychological drama-thriller.

A French-Irish coproduction, pic is penned and will be helmed by Stephen Bradley (“Boy Eats Girl”), and produced by Gaul’s Chic Films (“A Prophet”) and Ireland’s Treasure Entertainment.

The $5 million-budgeted period suspenser turns on a unit of British paratroopers captured by German soldiers in a remote farmhouse, where a young Jewish couple is hiding.

Thesps Sylvie Testud, Niels Arestrup (“The Big Picture”) and Michael Gambon are in advanced negotiations to star.

Lensing will start in mid-August.

Chic Films is also onboard to produce “Bananas,” (working title) from popular Israeli helmer Eytan Fox (“The Bubble”).

The $4 million French-Israeli co-production will start lensing in August in Tel Aviv and Paris.

Paris-based outfit Ad Vitam will release “Bananas” in Spring 2012, while Films Distribution will handle international sales.
