Horror thriller stars 'Harry Potter' thesp Daniel Radcliffe
Following a heated bidding war, CBS Films has emerged with U.S. distribution rights to the Daniel Radcliffe-starrer “The Woman in Black.”
The gothic horror thriller stars the “Harry Potter” thesp as a lawyer who travels to a remote English village where he uncovers terrible secrets of a deceased client’s house and the titular ghost that haunts it.
Ciaran Hinds, Janet McTeer and Shaun Dooley co-star.
James Watkins is directing from a script by Jane Goldman (“X-Men: First Class”). Simon Oakes produced with Richard Jackson and Brian Oliver, while Roy Lee, Nigel Sinclair and Guy East served as exec producers.
Pic is a co-production between Hammer Films, Alliance Films and Cross Creek Pictures.
“The Woman in Black” is based on Susan Hill’s 1983 novel, which was previously adapted for both TV and the stage.
CBS Films is still figuring out when it will release the movie. Studio opened “The Mechanic” in January and just started production on Michael Hoffman’s “Gambit,” which stars Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz.
