'Margin' preemed Monday in Gotham
“Margin Call,” which preemed Monday at Gotham’s Sunshine Landmark, follows the beginning of the 2008 economic crisis and conveniently bows amidst the current Occupy Wall Street movement.
“I hope that the film helps to create a dialogue, because name-calling is not going to get this solved. This is not a simple situation we’re in right now and we’re not going to just bounce back from this,” helmer J.C. Chandor said of his Roadside Attractions film.
Pic’s Penn Badgley spent much of the after-party atop the Standard canoodling with Zoe Kravitz, who strolled around with a rolled cigarette. Badgley is an advocate of Occupy Wall Street protesters and has even joined the movement.
“I try to go down whenever I’m off work. I have a lot of friends who are down there every day. The financial crisis is to me the symptom of a larger human crisis,” said the thesp, who hopes his new pic will inspire viewers to “keep thinking progressively and maybe we’ll get there.”
