CAA keeping it in California

New exhibit unveiled

HOLLYWOOD — When it comes to the arts, Creative Artists Agency is bullish on California.

“At CAA, our collection is all about California artists and about supporting arts education here,” agent Thao Nguyen explained at the July 19 unveiling of a new exhibit at CAA’s Century City home.

Marking the company’s first collaboration with the California Community Foundation, the exhibit features the work of that org’s 2011 Fellowships for Visual Arts winners, 20 artists who each received $20,000 to use, according to CCF arts program officer Leslie Ito, “however they see fit.”

Congrats were in order for Charles Gaines, a Cal Arts prof who received an Emerging Artists prize. “I’m 21 years old!” the 67-year-old joked.
