As usual, the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball unfolded at the Pacific Palisades home of Susan Harris and Hayward Kaiser. But this Saturday night, the gossip there revolved around the next-door neighbor. As host Tom Arnold put it, “Arnold Schwarzenegger is a stone’s throw away. He won’t be making fun of the kind of women I sleep with anymore!”
Chrysalis not only helps the homeless find jobs, but also gives them clothes for interviews. As presenter Jon Favreau remembered, he once donated some business suits when he lost weight years ago. “Now I want to know if anyone here can get me those suits back,” said the newly zaftig helmer.
The evening turned into something of a roast for one of its honorees, Scott Stuber. Seth MacFarlane lampooned the producer’s penchant for malapropisms, which he called “Stuberisms.” He even sang a song, “Everybody Has the Right to Be Wrong,” which included this ode to Stuber: “Here’s something to add to your good looks … books.”
Presenter Vince Vaughn took more jabs at the night’s “recipitent” and his unique take on the English language.
Olivia Wilde and WME’s Richard Weitz were also honored, albeit a bit more kindly, although Arnold did manage to mangle the agent’s name.
