Iger friends raise major coin

Hollywood– When Robert Iger calls, people listen. That’s how the 19th annual A Night at Sardi’s Gala on March 16 at the BevHilton raised $1.6 million for the Alzheimer’s Assn.

The Disney prexy and CEO accepted the Abe Burrows Entertainment Award from Patrick Dempsey “in my mother’s name” (she suffers from Alzheimer’s) and told the high-powered assemblage that “it means a lot to me personally that you are here to support this cause.” Iger’s friends included Jerry Bruckheimer, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Brian Grazer, Haim Saban, Judd Apatow and a slew of performers who made their way through a Cole Porter medley.

Seth Rogen hosted the show for the second year in a row, joking, “After the Oscars, no other actor will ever want to host anything ever again!” But it gave him the chance to trade sex jokes with Betty White, who explained to him that “the crowd is already so liquored up, they aren’t going to listen to you anyway.”

But listen they did, to some impressive singing by Scott Bakula, Kristen Bell, Kevin McKidd, Grace Potter, Taye Diggs, Katy Mixon and Audra McDonald.
