'Weeds' thesp sparks to Stone's marijuana pic

“A Better Life” star Demian Bichir has been tapped by Oliver Stone to join the cast of Universal’s “Savages.”

Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson star as Laguna Beach marijuana kingpins forced to work for a Mexican drug cartel after it kidnaps their free-spirited girlfriend, played by Blake Lively.

Bichir is in talks to play Alex, a two-timing attorney who works for Salma Hayek’s cartel, which boasts Benicio Del Toro as its primary enforcer.

“Pulp Fiction” thesps John Travolta and Uma Thurman co-star alongside Emile Hirsch.

Stone revised the script by Shane Salerno and Don Winslow, the author of the bestselling novel who just inked a deal with publisher Simon & Schuster to write a prequel.

Universal is slated to start production on “Savages” on July 6.

While bigscreen auds may know Bichir for playing Fidel Castro in Steven Soderbergh’s two-part epic “Che,” thesp is best known for playing Mary-Louise Parker’s mayoral love interest on Showtime’s “Weeds.” He next stars as a Mexican gardener in Chris Weitz’s drama “A Better Life,” which Summit Entertainment opens June 24.

Bichir is repped by Paradigm and manager Sekka Scher.
