BFI board of governors taps Hooper

'King's Speech' director joins 14 others

Tom Hooper has been appointed to the British Film Institute’s board of governors.

“The King’s Speech” helmer marks the final addition to the 15 strong board, which includes Warner Bros. U.K. topper Josh Berger, Film4’s Tessa Ross, helmer Beeban Kidron, entertainment lawyer Lisbeth Savill and Matthew Justice, topper at Big Talk Films.

Hooper will join the BFI as it addresses some of the biggest challenges in the film landscape across the territory.

Hooper’s “Speech” was backed by the shuttered U.K. Film Council., whose funding responsibilities have transferred to the BFI.
