Helmer to debut 'Ice' at L.A. French film showcase

Writer-director Bertrand Blier will be honored at the 15th annual City of Lights, City of Angels French film festival, which runs April 11-18 at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles.

Blier will bring his latest pic, “The Clink of Ice,” which stars Albert Dupontel and Jean Dujardin and played at the Venice Film Fest, where it won best European film.

Blier will also be the focus of the fest’s Happy Hour Talks, following a screening of the director’s 1979 “Cold Cuts,” starring frequent collaborator Gerard Depardieu.

Programmed in the Colcoa Classics section is Pierre Schoendoerffer’s “The 317th Platoon” (1965), with the writer-director making a rare appearance at the fest, and a 50th anni screening of Jacques Demy’s “Lola” (1961), starring Anouk Aimee.
