Beresford has ‘Killer Instinct’

He'll direct Chockstone-DeFina pic

“Driving Miss Daisy” director Bruce Beresford is set to helm “Killer Instinct” for Chockstone Pictures and De Fina Prods.

Based on the tome by Joseph Finder, pic tells the story of a young salesman who, through a chance meeting, befriends a washed-up, former special forces officer who insists on helping him get ahead, with deadly consequences.

David Murray, who wrote the original script, will help Beresford with a new draft.

Chockstone’s Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz will produce along with Barbara De Fina. Roger Schwartz will co-produce. Chockstone is producing “Cogan’s Trade” starring Brad Pitt, which is now filming.

Beresford, who directed “Mao’s Last Dancer” in 2009, has “Peace, Love and Misunderstanding” in post. He is repped by Gersh, Anonymous Content and attorney Ken Meyer.
