Bening, Morgan enter ‘The Third Act’

Voltage fires up for sales in Berlin

Annette Bening and Morgan Freeman are set to topline Rob Reiner’s next directing project, family-oriented “The Third Act.” Nicolas Chartier’s Voltage Pictures is financing and selling international rights for the pic, skedded to lense in May, Pic reunites Reiner with Freeman (“The Bucket List).

The story, penned by Guy Thomas, tells the tale of a formerly famous Western writer who attempts to rediscover the talent that made him great in a small rural town. In doing so, he helps a young girl find her wild imagination and her mother find love once more.

CAA negotiated the deal with Voltage and is repping the film domestically.

Reiner’s last directing effort, “Flipped,” was also a family-targeted title.

Voltage’s office in the Mandala Hotel in Berlin is likely to be a busy one this year. The outfit is shopping James Franco starrer “Maladies,” which also toplines Catherine Keener and Fallon Goodson. Pic, which just wrapped in New York, follows the story of three people with mental illnesses struggling to co-exist in a small house by the beach.

The company is also selling Victor Salva’s horror pic “Rosewood Lane,” starring Rose McGowan.

And Voltage will debut footage of its in-house production “Killer Joe,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch in addition to shopping legal drama “Puncture” with Chris Evans, “Ten Year” starring Channing Tatum and Sundance preem “Another Happy Day,” toplining Ellen Barkin, Ezra Miller and Demi Moore.
