Benderspink bags ‘Broken’

Banner picks up rights to Susan Jane Bigelow's futuristic novel

Benderspink has decided to get “Broken,” picking up the film rights to the futuristic novel by Susan Jane Bigelow.

Due to be published in November, “Broken” is set in a civil war-torn future New York City where a clairvoyant man is handed a baby and sees two visions of the future: one where the child becomes a fascist dictator, and one where it brings peace on Earth.

Project was brought in by Christopher Cosmos, who will oversee for Benderspink. The banner will be going out to writers and directors soon.

Benderspink, which recently reupped its first-look deal at New Line, is developing “Burt Wonderstone” with Steve Carell, “Business Trip” at Universal with Judd Apatow, “Abducted” and “The Mighty” at Par and “Area 52” at Summit.
