Guests at the inaugural Hamptons for Haiti fund-raiser at the Ross School in East Hampton were impressed by the event put together by Maria Bello and friends. Co-hosts for the Sunday event included Mariska Hargitay, Donna Karan, Patricia Arquette and Barbara Guillaume, a popular Haitian folksinger who entertained, backed by a band, to help raise money for earthquake survivors.
Wyclef Jean’s youngest sister, Melky Jean, was on hand to belt out the gospel “Old Rugged Cross” in French.
Of her commitment to the cause, Bello said, “I was pissed off about money going to big aid agencies and seeing that things just weren’t getting done.”
Liev Schreiber donated, saying, “I’m impressed with the work Maria’s done for the seven months they’ve been in Haiti. Big NGOs haven’t done as much.”
